Meet Becky

Hi, I’m Becky Rene. I’ve got what my mom always called the “anything with fur” gene. I grew up riding horses bareback through the fields and ponds around Naples and Cohocton, my best friend on one horse and me on the other, our dogs running right alongside. Those days taught me the thing I still build every training program around: our animals aren’t just along for the ride, they shape who we are. They teach us patience, discipline, and how to build a relationship that lasts.

I’ve been married 38 years. Three kids, all grown and married now, and ten grandchildren with another on the way. Back in 2016 we decided life wasn’t quite full enough, so we traded our little spot in West Irondequoit for 24 acres in Avon and started the small farm we call the Homestead, dogs and four mini-donkeys and all. Horses are next.

When the house finally emptied out, I turned a lifetime around animals into an actual profession. I earned my certification through the Animal Behavior College and became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer in 2010. The part I love is the one most people don’t expect: I’m training the human just as much as the dog. Every person and every dog is a different match, and the real goal was never just a sit or a stay. It’s the bond underneath it. Life really is better together.

I’m a Rochester native, and some of my best years came as a core volunteer at the city’s Verona Street Animal Shelter, where I put in hundreds of hours with every kind of dog you can imagine and helped a lot of them find their families. That’s where you really learn to read a dog. I’m certified in Animal First Aid and CPR, I’m a Therapy Dog International evaluator, and I still hike with my own pack every single day. I’d love the chance to work with you and yours.

And I don’t do this alone. My training partner, Becca Giannavola, is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer too, and between us we’ve worked with dozens and dozens of Rochester dogs and their people.
